Recommendation to the Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton, the Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla Canton and the Public Institution Elementary School “Dr. Safvet-beg Bašagić ”Gradačac

On September 29, 2021, the party from Gradačac addressed the institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina, regarding the application submitted by the appointee to the competent authorities of Tuzla Canton, concerning the teacher of the Elementary School "Safeta Beg Bašagic" in Gradačac.

Following the investigation procedure, on 13 December 2021, the Ombudsmen sent to the Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton, the Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla County and the Public Institution Primary School “Dr. Safvet-beg Bašagić ”Gradačac Recommendation number: P-308/21 with the following content:

- yes, having in mind the Finding and opinion of the Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ensure the organization and implementation of professional development of educators, teachers, professional associates and associates in educational institutions that directly or indirectly participate in the educational process. any form of violence;

- to strengthen and raise awareness of all forms of violence through educational programs, including campaigns, in order to promote positive and alternative forms of discipline and respect for children's rights, with the participation of children, while raising awareness of the harmful effects of corporal punishment.

- that in all activities undertaken, they keep in mind that the best interests of the child must be a priority;

- to inform the Ombudsmen on the manner of compliance with the recommendation within sixty days from the day of receipt of the recommendation.

The implementation of recommendation P-308/21 is being monitored.
