Ombudsman Nives Jukić at a working meeting with Anne-Christine Eriksson, Regional representative of UNHCR

Ombudsman Nives Jukić held today a working meeting with UNHCR representative for Southeast Europe, Anne-Christine Eriksson, who visited the office in Sarajevo, within her inaugural visit to take over this important duty as well. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Department for Protection, Stephanie Woldenberg and associate Mio Shindo-Braaten, as well as the Assistant Ombudsman Rada Kafedžić and Almedina Karić, Advisor for Communications and International Cooperation.

The aim of the meeting was to exchange information on current activities and priorities, in order to identify areas for cooperation and joint action. Some of the themes certainly include the issue of asylum, current migration, the problem of refugees and internally displaced persons, the issue of obligations and accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union, as well as issues of regional cooperation in these areas.

The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere with the proposal of joint monitoring of the activities of asylum and immigration centres in the function of prevention of human rights violations.
