Ombudsman's Activities | 16.03.2017 Ombudspersons on a working visit to Una-Sana Canton Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton Hussein Rošić meets the BiH Ombudsman for Human Rights Jasminka Džumhur and Ljubinko Mitrović Human Rights Ombudspersons Jasminka Džumhur, PhD, and Ljubinko Mitrović, PhD, paid a working visit to Una-Sana Canton today and meet at separate meetings the Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton, Husein Rošić and the Mayor of Bihać Town, Šuhret Fazlić. The main objective of the visit was the introduction of office days/field outreach visits of the Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina staff members, and discussion on issues of importance for the protection of human rights in Una-Sana Canton. At the meeting with local authorities the Ombudsman got full support for the establishment of field outreach visits of the Ombudsman in Bihać, which will enable citizens of Bihać and other municipalities of Una-Sana Canton to have easier access to this Institution as a human rights protection mechanism. During the discussion with Ombudspersons Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton, Husein Rošić pointed out his openness for co-operation with the Ombudsman Institution and determination to respect human rights of all citizens saying that introduction of office days has his support so that citizens have the opportunity to address the Ombudsman in case their rights are endangered. Ombudspersons will use this opportunity of their to meet the Rector of the University of Bihać, Fadil Islamović, PhD, as well as the Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Bihać, Suad Hamzabegović, PhD, to discuss further co-operation models in accordance with the signed agreement on cooperation between the Ombudsman and the University Pointing out the importance of the Ombudsman’s outreach visits for Bihać Town, its Mayor Šuhret Fazlic said that the arrival of representatives of this Institution means strengthening the legal system, that is, faster resolution and overcoming the deficiencies that led to the violation of human rights citizens of Bihać or Una-Sana Canton. Ombudspersons used this opportunity to meet the Rector of the University of Bihać, Fadil Islamović, PhD, as well as the Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Bihać, Suad Hamzabegović, PhD, to discuss further co-operation models in accordance with the signed agreement on cooperation between the Ombudsman and the University.
