Ombudsman's Activities | 15.12.2016 Assistant Ombudsman Predrag Raosavljević, PhD, at a national seminar on "Combating intolerance and discrimination through anti-hate speech" National seminar on "Combating intolerance and discrimination through anti-hate speech: The role of parliamentarians", BiH Parliament Assistant Ombudsman and Head of the Ombudsman's Department for Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Predrag Raosavljević,PhD, participated as a panelist at a national seminar on "Combating intolerance and discrimination through anti-hate speech: The role of parliamentarians", which is organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe with the support of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, held on 15 December this year on the premises of the BiH Parliament. The main objective of the seminar was to point out to the hate speech phenomenon and consequences of it to the individuals, vulnerable groups and society as a whole. In his presentation titled "Intolerance and Discrimination: Situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina" Assistant Ombudsman and Head of the Department for Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Predrag Raosavljević presented the international framework to combat hate speech, stressing the obligations that Bosnia and Herzegovina taken in this regard, and the degree of implementation of international recommendations, as he presented certain comparative solutions. Addressing the participants of this Seminar, Predrag Raosavljević, PhD, presented also the work of the Ombudsman in cases involving hate speech, and also the issued recommendations mostly linked to the inaapropriate media reports on Internet portals, offensive blogs and comments, graphiti and other inscriptions beside the traffic roads. Seminar was opened by Semiha Borovac, Human rights Ministress, Šefik Džaferović Chair of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly as a moderator, and participants were representatives of the Constitutional court or BiH, The Council of Europe, OSCE, Press Council, legislative bodies, ECtHR and NGOs.
