Ombudsperson Jasminka Džumhur visits the institutions accommodating persons with intellectual disabilities

Ombudsperson Jasminka Džumhur along with her associates paid a visit to Sokolac Psychiatric Hospital today. On Tuesday, 20 September this year she will visit the Psychiatric Hospital of Sarajevo Canton "Jagomir" and the Institute for Special Education and Care of Children "Mjedenica".

Ombudsperson’s visits to the institutions accommodating the persons with intellectual disabilities will be ended by visiting the Center of Social and Health Care of Persons with Disabilities and Others in Stolac on Wednesday, 21 September this year.

The aim of these visits is to assess the human rights situation in institutions accommodating the persons with intellectual disabilities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a focus on the implementation of the recommendations of the Special Report of the Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the state in institutions for persons with intellectual disabilities of September 2009.

Ombudspersons of Bosnia and Herzegovina will give a detailed overview of the situation in institutions for persons with intellectual disabilities in a special report to be prepared following this round of visits to the facilities accommodating this category of persons.
