Press statement | 06.07.2016 Ombudsman Nives Jukić at A Regional Conference in Budva Budva Conference entitled "Legal protection in the field of discrimination in South East Europe", organized by the German organization GIZ, held in Budva from 27 to 30 June 2016, was attended by the Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nives Jukić with Advisor for International Cooperation and Communication Almedina Karić. The conference marked the final activity of the one-year regional project implemented by GIZ together with 13 public law schools in the region and network (SEELS), the institutions and bodies of the Ombudsman for Equality, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute and Centers for Education of Judges and Prosecutors. The project was implemented in Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Croatia, Kosovo*, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania. The two main objectives of this project include strengthening capacity of institutions and improvement of law enforcement in the fight against discrimination, and improving education programs at law schools and institutions in the area of discrimination. At the Conference was presented regional study which dealt with the status of individual countries regarding anti-discrimination, the capacity of institutions, instruments of legal protection and the application of anti-discrimination legislation. The Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nives Jukić took an active part in one of the working groups that were aimed at dealing with the recommendations for the improvement of education and training in the field of combating discrimination, which primarily related to the curricula of law schools and training centers for judges and prosecutors and recommendations for improving the implementation of the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination and strengthening the capacity of institutions dealing with the implementation and supervision of the application of this Law.
